Rotary’s first-ever Avon Great Pizza Bake-Off, held on February 5th at Avon High School, was a success!
More than 400 guests enjoyed the event, emceed by Kristina Buller, Avon High School Principal. While Rotary Club members ran the show, the Northcoast Interact club sold drinks, ice cream and assisted with Putt-Out for Polio. Avon High School’s National Honor Society and Key Club students bussed tables and assisted guests.
Diners sampled pizza from nine vendors including Antonio’s, Coleone’s, Costco, Domino’s, Marco’s, Romeo’s, Stray Goose, Whistler’s and Zeppe’s. Ballots were cast for favorites and the winners were announced. Whistler’s Pizza was voted People’s Choice; Coleone’s was voted Best Pepperoni Pizza; and Zeppe’s was voted Best Specialty Pizza.
The Avon / Avon Lake Rotary Club thanks Avon High School, the Bake-Off Sponsors, the Pizza Vendors, Coldstone Creamery, the Northcoast Interact Club, Avon High School NHS and Key Club students, and the Community who by participating contributed to this event’s success.
The Pizza Bake-Off was followed by Avon High School’s Fusion Concert featuring the Avon Jazz Band, Avon Accapella Improv, and Avon Electric Orchestra that are a sellout performance.
Pizza lovers can look forward to the Rotary Club’s Avon Lake Pizza Bake-Off which will be held in the fall at the high school Home Coming .
These charity fund-raisers benefit the Rotary Club’s local Foundation which provides scholarships and support for many youth initiatives in Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield Village and Sheffield Lake, the four communities that this Club serves.
